This is a truly attractive example of a bright-blue-, red- and/or silver-coloured, enlisted-mens'- (ie. NCO-) type side-arm knot (ie. 'Portepee' ie.: 'Troddel') as was intended for usage onto the various WH-bayonets and that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem 'virtually mint- ie. unissued'- and/or most certainly never 'mounted'-), condition. These NCO-type side-arm knots (ie. 'Portepee' or: 'Troddel') were specifically intended for usage on the K98-bajonets (ie. their leather bayonet-frogs) and were worn by the various troops like the: 'Unteroffiziere' (ie. NCO-usage). The various (branch)colours used denoted a specific regiment ie. bataillon. The piece on offer here comes mounted onto a (silverish-coloured) and typical linne-based 'strap' and shows some minimal storage-age only and comes still folded (and tied-together) as issued (as can be seen on the photos) and is void of any damage and is of course still functional. The piece was recently uncovered at a German private-household and was never before in collectors'-hands. Simply an attractive example of a 'standard-issue'-type WH-side-arm knot (ie. 'Portepee' ie.: 'Troddel') that is with certainty accordingly priced!
