The attractive - I deem early-period and/or fully matching! - WH (Luftwaffe) officers'-pattern ('LW-Sanitäts-Truppen' ie. air-force-medical-troops-related) shoulderboard-pair was intended for - and clearly used by! - a: 'Leutnant der Reserve u. Arzt einer Sanitäts-Abteilungs' (or: junior medical-doctor and lieutnant serving within the medical-troops). Both boards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of (I deem) the Luftwaffe-type shoulderboards and have the (bright) silver- (ie. non-'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were with certainty issued and/or worn as such and do show some moderate age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable darker-blue- (ie. 'blauer'-) coloured branchcolour and have a (slightly lighter-coloured) also blue- (ie. 'blauer'-) coloured secondary-branchcolour (denoting the 'Reserve'-status). The boards were constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool and came without tongues: they were most certainly used as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 11,2 cms. in length each and show a pair of (early-period, fully matching, bright-golden-toned, truly larger-sized and/or 'Buntmetall'-based) so-called: 'Aesculapus'-cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern') period-attached. Both devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (albeit minimally darkened) age-patina. Taking into account, the fact that this pair has the bright-silver 'upperdecks' (I deem) that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a Luftwaffe-dress-tunic. Simply an attractive WH (Luftwaffe) shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a: 'Leutnant der Reserve u. Arzt einer Sanitäts-Abteilungs'!
