Unusual - and fully matching! - pair of WH (Heeres) neatly 'cyphered', officers'-type shoulderboards as piped in the black-coloured branchcolour as was intended for a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Batls. 5' (and that came with a pair of 'Überschuben')

The attractive pair is neatly piped in the black- (ie. 'schwarzer'-) coloured branchcolour and has the typical black-coloured 'underlays' and was as intended for a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Batallions 5' (or: captain who served within the 'Pionier'- (ie. engineers) 'Bataillion' (ie. battalion), numbered: '5') and comes in an overall nice- (I deem just moderately used- and/or carefully tunic-removed-), condition. The shoulderboards are 'text-book'-examples of the 'Heeres'-type, 'Pioniere'-shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey-coloured (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-pattern) 'upperdecks' (as can be noticed on the pictures). The boards show the desirable black- (ie. 'schwarzer'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the typical 'smooth'-type wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and were intended for - and clearly used! - as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 11 cms. in length each and were most certainly issued- and/or worn as such and do show moderate age, wear and/or staining as to be expected. The pair shows a fully matching set of (neatly bright-golden-toned, larger-sized and/or identical) '5'-numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') and four (identical-styled) pips period-attached. All six devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and just minimally darkened age-patina. Of additional interest is, moreover, the fact that the pair came with a (matching!) set of field-grey-coloured, woolen-based 'Überschuben' (which were specifically used to obscure the specific unit-designation at the front ie. in battle-conditions). Simply an attractive - and unusually found! - WH (Heeres) officers'-pattern shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Batallions 5' and that is I deem accordingly priced!
