This is a neat - albeit regrettably single! - (I deem) pre- (ie. early-) war-period, so-called: 'M40'-pattern (and I deem typically tailor-made!) WH (Kriegsmarine) neatly cyphered NCO-type shoulderstrap as was intended for usage onto the blue-coloured naval tunics by a: 'Stabsfeldwebel eines Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilungs' (or: senior- ie. staff-sergeant who served within a naval coastal-artillery unit) and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit moderately used- and/or worn-), condition. The shoulderstrap - which measures approximately 11,2 cms. in length as more often seen - has the darker-blue-toned and (smooth)woolen-based 'upperdeck' (as is more encountered with these early-war-period KM-type shoulderstraps). The strap has the (typical albeit smaller-sized) bright-golden-toned (naval-type) NCO-braid attached and shows a single 'Feinzink'-based and somewhat tarnished) so-called: 'winged-shell-anchor'-cypher (ie.: 'Ziffer') and three (smaller-sized, equeally-styled) pips period-attached (denoting the unusally seen rank of a: 'Stabsfeldwebel'). The shoulderstrap - which originates from a larger cloth- and insignia-collection I recently acquired for the web-site - came with a (golden-toned, 'screw-on'-pattern) anchor-button attached and never had a tongue attached: it was most certainly used as a strap of the 'sew-in'-pattern. Simply a neat 'M40'-pattern, NCO-type 'Kriegsmarine o. Küsten-Artillerie'-shoulderstrap that was intended for usage by a: 'Stabsfeldwebel eines Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilungs': too bad that it is only a single specimen!
