The truly attractive - regrettably single but nevertheless rarely seen! - WH (Heeres) officers'-type and neaty 'cyphered' shoulderboard as was intended for usage by an: 'Oberleutnant der Inf.-Truppen u. Mitglied der Heeres-Unteroffiziers-Schule Freiberg o. Frankenstein' (or: officer ie. lieutnant first-class and presumably instructor who served within the army NCO-school based in either Freiberg or Frankenstein) and that comes in an overall nicely preserved- and only moderately used- ie. worn, condition. The board shows the desirable white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured branchcolour (and was constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool as to be expected). The board never had a tongue attached and was most certainly intended as a board of the sew-in-pattern. It measures approximately 10,5 cms. in length and was just moderately worn- ie. carefully tunic-removed (as can be seen on the pictures). It shows a neat (bright-golden-toned, larger-sized and Gothic-styled) so-called: 'US'-cypher (ie. 'Ziffer') and dito (smaller-sized, and also Gothic-styled) 'f'-cypher (ie. 'Ziffer') and a (equally styled, regular-sized) pip period-attached (as to be expected). It should be noted that all WH (Heeres) 'US'-type boards are actually quite hard to encounter and can easily be graded 'rare': even more so when they are neatly 'dual cyphered' as is this example. All three devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (and/or quite shiny) age-patina. This particular board originated from a larger cloth- ie. 'cyphered' shoulderstrap-collection I recently acquired for the web-site and shows - as stated above - just moderate usage ie. wear (just some moderate age, dust and/or staining is visible and/or present). Simply an attractive - and rarely found! - shoulderboard that belonged to an: 'Oberleutnant der Inf.-Truppen u. Mitglied der Heeres-Unteroffiziers-Schule Freiberg o. Frankenstein': too bad that it is only a single piece!
