The attractive - neatly 'cyphered'! - WH (Heeres) officers'-type pair is neatly (dual)piped in the white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured branchcolour and has the typical dove-grey-coloured 'underlay' (ie. secondary branchcolour) and was as such intended for a: 'Hauptmann der Reserve des Infanterie-Regiments 118' (or: reserve-captain who served within the infantry-regiment, numbered: '118') and comes in an overall nice- (I deem just moderately used- and/or carefully tunic-removed-), condition. The shoulderboards are 'text-book'-examples of the 'Heeres'-type, 'Infanterie'-shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey-coloured (ie. somewhat sub-dued) 'upperdecks' (as can be noticed on the pictures). The boards show the desirable white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured branchcolour (and have the typical dove-grey-coloured 'underlay' ie. 'Zwischenfarbe'): they were constructed from the typical 'smooth'-type wool as to be expected. The boards never had any tongues attached and were intended for - and used! - as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10,8 cms. in length each and were most certainly issued- and/or worn as such and do show moderate age, wear and/or staining as to be expected. The pair - that was recently found at a German private-household - shows a set of (neatly bright-golden-toned, larger-sized) double '1'- and/or: '8'-numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') and two pairs of (smaller-sized, equally-styled) pips period-attached. All 10 devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (and/or quite shiny!) age-patina. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) officers-pattern shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a: 'Hauptmann der Reserve infantry-regiment, numbered: '118'!
