This is a neat - albeit regrettably single and somewhat moth-damaged but nevertheless scarcely found! - example of an early-period (ie. 'M40'-pattern and/or typically 'rounded'-styled), WH (Heeres) neatly 'cyphered' and/or white-piped NCO-type shoulderstrap as was intended for usage by an: 'Unteroffizier des Infanterie-Maschinengewehr-Abteilungs 8' (or: infantry junior-sergeant who served within a specific, infantry-related machine-gunners-unit numbered: '8') and that comes in an overall nice- (ie. clearly used- and/or worn-), condition. The strap - which is executed in the darker-green-coloured wool and that has the woolen-type piping attached - shows the white- (ie. 'weisser'-) toned piping: it is in my opinion a typical 'tailor-made' example (as can be seen on the pictures). The strap measures approximately 10,5 cms. in length and comes without tongue attached (it was clearly used and worn as a strap of the 'sew-in'-type). The strap shows the neat hand-embroidered (by means of 'Kurbelstickerei'!) larger 'M'-cypher (ie. 'Ziffer') and/or '8'-numeral which are both executed in the white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured linnen as to be expected (as can be seen on the pictures). The strap - that has the silverish-grey-toned NCO-braid attached shows as stated above clear usage and wear (some obvious age, dust and/or staining is visible and/or present). It should be noted that ALL 'cyphered', NCO-pattern, 'Infanterie'-type shoulderstraps can easily be regarded 'scarce'. In any case an attractive and/or: early-war-period, 'Heeres-Infanterie'-related, NCO-type shoulderstrap that was intended for usage by an: 'Unteroffizier des Infanterie-Maschinengewehr-Abteilungs 8': too bad that it is only a single specimen!
