The truly attractive - and I deem clearly worn ie. carefully 'cut-of-a-tunic' - pair of 'high-ranked', WH (Heeres) officers'-type shoulderboards are 'text-book'-examples of the typical Heeres-type, 'Generalstab'-related, officers-pattern shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type) 'upperdecks': they are just moderately used- ie. worn and show some minimal age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable darker-pink- ie. crimson- (or: 'karmesinroter'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the typical 'smooth-type' wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues and were with certainty intended to be used as a pair of the 'sew-in'-type. The boards measure approximately 11 cms. in length each and were clearly worn- ie. carefully tunic-removed (as can be seen on the pictures). The pair shows two matching sets of (neatly golden-toned, larger-sized- and/or fully identical) pips period-attached, denoting that the high-ranked officer (ie. 'Oberst' or: full-colonel!) who was issued this pair, served within the army high-command ie. staff (ie.: 'Generalstab'). All four devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (and/or quite shiny) age-patina. Taking into account the fact that the set has the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was used on a 'regular'- ie. front-used tunic. The pair originated from a larger cloth- ie. shoulderstrap-collection I recently acquired for the web-site. It should be mentioned that these neatly 'cyphered', higher-ranked 'Heeres'-type 'Generalstab'-related shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply a very attractive shoulderboard-pair that belonged to an: 'Oberst der Generalstab'!
