  1. Iron Cross

This is an attractive - clearly worn- and/or truly used! - example of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a detailed, non-magnetic and typical maker- (ie. '15'-) marked example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Friedrich Orth' as was based in the town of Wien (ie. Vienna) and that came as issued and/or recently found and that comes in an overall nice- (ie. surely issued and moderately used- ie. worn-), condition. The non-magnetic cross was with certainty never cleaned and has a nice and/or attractive age-patina: it retains some of its so-called: 'hochpolierte Kanten' (or: polished sides) and has a minimally darkened- (ie. hardly 'blackened'- ie. stained) finish (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross has a nicely preserved, black-finished (ie. somewhat 'satin-like'- ie matted-) core: it is void of any real damage but does show some obvious paint-loss (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece is just a tiny bit dusty and/or stained but was never cleaned nor polished. The back of the cross is just a tiny bit stained (but was never cleaned nor polished). The (flute-shaped) pin and catch (ie. set-up) are naturally unaltered and/or fully functional. The cross an evident specimen that was produced by the Austrian maker: 'Friedrich Orth' as was based in the town of Wien (ie. 'Hersteller 15'): it has very nice and/or pronounced detail as to be expected for a cross by this maker. The piece is (I deem) an early-war-period produced example something that can be corroborated by the presence of an early-type, silvered frame. The IC was recently found at a German private-household and was never before in collectors'-hands and is (I deem) accordingly priced!
