Attractive - and actually very scarcely encountered! - officers'-pattern, so-called: RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') sleeve-badge (or: 'Dienststellenabzeichen') bearing the specialist-designation: 'XXVII A'
This is a very attractive - and actually very scarcely encountered! - officers'-version of a so-called: RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') sleeve-badge (or: 'Dienststellen-Abzeichen') bearing the specialist-designation: 'XXVII A' (as was presumably intended for a RAD senior-official who served within the 27th district ie. 'Bezirk') and that comes in an overall nice- (ie. clearly used- and/or once tunic-attached-), condition. These badges were worn on the upper-left sleeve of the mustard-coloured (officers'-type-) RAD-tunics and/or garments. The badge - which shows the Roman-styled, red-coloured 'XXVII A'-characters - is neatly executed in so-called 'flat-wire'-like-'BeVo'-weave technique. The piece was neatly folded ie. trimmed as to be expected (and still shows some of its period stitching- ie. thread-remains with which it was once tunic-attached). The badge is neatly maker-marked and displays the interwoven so-called: 'Ges.Gesch.'-designation as is more often found on RAD cloth badges- and/or insignia. This badge originates from a smaller collection of rarely seen RAD cloth-insignia I recently acquired for the web-site. It should be noted that all RAD officers'-type badges are comparatively scarcely encountered: those intended for specialised functions even more so!
