Stunning, 'Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse' being a maker- (ie. 'L/11'-) marked example by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Wilhelm Deumer' and that came stored in its rarely seen 'LDO'-etui ie. box
The truly very attractive 'Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse' on offer here is a neatly maker- (ie. 'L/11'-) marked example that was produced by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Wilhelm Deumer' and that came stored in its (rarely seen!) darker-blue-toned 'LDO'-etui ie. box as recently found. The piece was I deem surely issued but that was simply never worn nor used. The cross - which shows a clearly stamped makers'-designation: 'L/11' stamped into its ring - was with certainty never cleaned and has a superb and/or attractive age-patina: it truly retains almost all (!) of its so-called: 'hochpolierte Kanten' (or: polished sides) and has a minimally darkened- (ie. hardly 'blackened'- ie. stained) finish (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross has a very nicely preserved, black-finished (ie. somewhat 'satin-like'- ie. somewhat matted-) core: it is totally void of any damage nor paint-loss (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece is just a tiny bit dusty and/or stained but was never cleaned nor polished. The cross is an evident specimen that was produced by the desirable maker: 'Wilhelm Deumer' as was based in the town of Lüdenscheid (ie. 'Hersteller 3'): it has very nice and/or pronounced detail as to be expected for a cross by this desirable maker. The IC was recently found at a German private-household and was never before in collectors'-hands. It came stored in its neat (blue-coloured) LDO-type etui that shows a fully preserved (light-yellow-coloured- and velvet-based 'inlay' (as can be noticed on the pictures). I am aware of the fact some say that these etuis were merely intended for storage of the 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern' (or: War Merits' Cross second class with swords), however, this specimen was found (and most certainly distributed!) as such. Simply a superb, clearly maker- (ie. 'L/11'-) marked 'EK II. Klasse' that is with certainty accordingly priced: maybe the best such 'boxed, LDO-type'-example I ever had on offer!
