This is a truly very attractive - I deem issued albeit simply never used nor tunic-attached! - example of the (actually nowadays scarcely encountered!) WH (Heeres) 'Narvik'-campaign-shield as executed in typical, greyish-silver-toned zinc ie.: 'Feinzink' (as was presumably produced by the: 'Wilhelm Deumer'-company as based in the town of Lüdenscheid) and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. simply never used- nor once tunic-attached-), condition. The (naturally non-magnetic and minimally converse-shaped) shield - which is executed in greyish-silver-coloured (ie. somewhat 'matted') so-called: zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink') - comes as recently found: it retains all its four (copper-based) prongs in place and comes mouted onto its (also zinc-based) 'back-plate' and comes mounted onto its period (field-grey-toned and/or 'smooth woolen'-based cloth) as can be seen on the pictures. The period (beige-toned and carton-based) 'backing-paper' is also present (but has come 'loose' over the years). The shield shows some minimal aging caused by storage and age: some minimal staining is visible and/or present but the shield still retains very nice and pronounced detail as to be expected. The shield was recently found at a private-household in Germany and was simply stored as such for decades: it was never before part of a collection. It should furthermore be mentioned that these 'Narvik'-campaign-shields are nowadays hard to come by. Simply a very attractive 'Heeres'-example of this collectable and desirable campaign-shield that nowadays is not that often offered for sale: I deem that I have priced this attractive example, accordingly!
