Superb - golden-toned- and nicely enamelled! - Romanian, officers'-pattern military-cross: 'Order of the Crown of Romania' (being an early example of the first pattern that was issued between 1881 and 1941)

These very attractive - bright-golden-toned and nicely multi-coloured-enemalled! - Romanian military-crosses: 'Order of the Crown of Romania' were awarded to higher-ranked officers for exceptional actions in the face of remarkable danger and merit. The award on offer here is (I deem) a very nicely preserved (and totally undamaged!) early-period example of the first pattern that was issued between 1881 and 1941). It deals with a specimen of one of the higher classes (ie. Knights-Cross) of this award that was specifically intended for officers'-usage (something that can be deducted from the presence of the seperately-attached 'Rosette' on the ribbon as can be seen on the pictures). The 'Order of the Crown of Romania' was established by King Carol I in 1881 on the same day as his coronation. It was conferred upon Romanian citizens and foreigners in recognition of special merit. The piece of offer here came mounted onto its nicely confectioned- (ie. pre-folded-) piece of period ribbon (ie. 'Bandabschnitt') and was nicely preserved overall: it was never polished nor cleaned and is still a tiny bit dirty but very detailed. It retains a neat, somewhat shiny golden-toned finish and is truly totally void of any enamel damage or alike (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece was recently found at a private-household and was uncovered amongst some other belongings of an unidentified German officer. Simply a very decorative Romanian, fairly high-class (and early period!) military-cross that is most certainly accordingly priced!
