This is an attractive - truly used- and/or worn but nevertheless still very detailed! - example of the (actually nowadays fairly scarcely encountered!) WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) so-called: 'Demjansk'-campaign-shield being of the desirable 'missing log'-pattern and that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem issued- and just moderately worn- ie. most certainly once tunic-attached-), condition. The (typical magnetic and just minimally converse-shaped) campaign-shield - which is executed in greyish-silver-coloured metal (ie.: 'Eisenblech') - comes naturally complete with its metal-based back-plate and retains all its four, originally-attached pins ie. prongs in place and retains its (typical greenish-toned, carton-based) so-called 'backing'-paper to be expected for an example of the 'missing log'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield - that comes mounted onto its piece of field-grey-toned, woolen cloth - shows some minimal aging caused by storage and/or moderate wear: some minimal (rust) staining is visible and/or present but it still retains very nice detail as to be expected. The shield was found at a private-household in Germany and was simply stored as such for decades: it was never before in a collection. It should furthermore be mentioned that these 'Demjansk'-campaign-shields are nowadays hard to come by. Simply a very nice - and naturally original! - example of this collectable and desirable campaign-shield of the 'missing log'-pattern that nowadays is not that often offered for sale: I deem that I have priced this attractive (and truly used- and/or worn!) example, accordingly!
