This is a very attractive - and just moderately used- ie. carefully (visor)cap-removed! - example of an early-period - and truly very unusual! - so-called: 'Ziviler Lufthansa', multi-coloured and hand-embroidered cap-wreath ie. cocarde as was specifically intended for usage onto a: 'Lufthansa' officers'-type visor-cap (ie. 'Schirmmütze') being a neatly personalised example that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. just moderately used- and/or: cap-removed-) condition. The neat and detailed piece - which has a 'wingspan' of approximately 15,5 cms. - is executed onto black-coloured wool and is neatly 'backed' with black-coloured, thin-shaped paper: it shows a silver-toned 'wing' with in its centre a golden-toned (and also neatly hand-embroidered!) swastika-sign (as can be noticed on the pictures). The cocarde just shows some dust, wear and/or tarnish, simply caused by decades of storage and/or minimal wear. The quality of the used embroidery is truly stunning: it is quite thick and pronounced in execution. The piece shows an inked name on its back (that reads: 'H. Kiel') who (according to the vendor who sold me this interesting piece one of the pilots of the famous flying-boat the: 'Dornier Do X'. Simply a great and very unusual 'Lufthansa'-related item from the early thirties and that most certainly would merit further investigative work!
