This is an attractive - and actually quite rarely found! - silverish-grey-toned- and/or - I deem - typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based, WH (Heeres) 'Grenadiere'-related item: a semi-official, commemorative-medal (aka: 'Url' or: luck-bringer) depicting a representation of the famous bow-and-arrow-design coupled with the text: 'I./1060' and on its back a map of Italy and text: 'Weihnacht 1944' and that comes in an overall very nice- (albeit clearly used- ie. worn-), condition. The peculiar-shaped piece (approximately sized: 4 x 4 cms.) depicts an illustration of the divisional-symbol of the: '1./Grenadier-Regiment 1060' (being a bow-and-arrow-design) and that shows on its back a map of Italy and text: 'Weihnacht 1944' (as can be noticed on the pictures) and was as such intended for usage by the members of the: '1./Grenadier-Regiment 1060' (being a part of the '362. Infanterie-Division' as was in late December 1944 stationed around the Italian town of Bologna). The piece is (I deem) somewhat crudely constructed from (quite heavy-weight) silverish-grey-toned zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based metal and shows most of its typical 'zinc-like' finish: it has really nice and/or pronounced detail. There is not much known about these commemorative 'medals ie. Url' but they were most certainly highly desirable 'souvenir'-pieces that could be awarded to the soldiers active in this war-area (even that late in the war ie. in December 1944!). In any case is this a very attractive - and without doubt scarcely seen! - 'Grenadiere'-related item that comes not that often for sale!
