This is an attractive - albeit just moderately used! - example of an (I deem) early- ie. mid-war-period: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a typical non-maker- (ie. 'L/56'-) marked, magnetic and/or non-vaulted- (ie. non-converse-shaped) example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Funcke & Brüninghaus' as was based in the town of Lüdenscheid (ie. 'Hersteller 116') and that comes as recently found. The neat cross comes in an overall very nice- (albeit moderately used ie. worn-), condition (as can be seen on the pictures). The magnetic cross retains a very nice age-patina and truly retains great pronounced detail: the black-coloured (and somewhat 'matted') core is void of any paint-loss and is just nicely preserved over the years (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece retains some of its so-called: 'hochpolierte Kanten' (or polished sides) and is just somewhat tarnished but was never cleaned nor polished. The typical (flute-shaped) pin (that shows the LDO-designation 'L/56' as to be expected) and/or catch (ie. set-up) are naturally fully unaltered and/or of course still functional. Simply an attractive - and I deem early- (ie. mid-) war-period! - 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' by the: 'Funcke & Brüninghaus'-company that was never before in a collection and that is I deem with certainty accordingly priced!
