Attractive, multi-coloured enamelled: 'Ehrennadel des Freikorps von Epp' (being a maker- ie. 'Wittmann - München'-marked example)
Category:
This is an attractive, multi-coloured enamelled so-called: 'Ehrennadel des Freikorps von Epp' being a clearly maker- (ie. 'Wittmann - München'-) marked example showing a very detailed, bright-golden-toned illustration of a lions-head (ie. 'Löwenkopf') and that comes in an overall very nicely preserved and/or totally undamaged condition. This specific (and early-period!) unit called the: 'Freikorps Ritter von Epp' (sometimes also referred to as the: 'Bayerisches Schützenkorps' ie: 'Freikorps von Epp') was a para-military unit of (ie. during) the Weimar Republic. It was founded in February 1919 by Franz Ritter von Epp in order to suppress the Bavarian Soviet Republic following the German revolution of 1918-1919. The unit was later absorbed into the Reichswehr, the armed forces of the republic and was later used to suppress the Ruhr Red Army during the Ruhr-uprising. The neat lapel-pin has a fully undamaged enamelled surfaced and comes mounted onto its longer-sized, period pin. Simply a very attractive - and actually not that often encountered! - early-period, 'Freikorps'-related item that is accordingly priced!
