These desirable - quite rarely found and fairly early- ie. pre-war-period! - WH (Heeres) cap-eagles were specifically intended for usage onto the WH-'Knautschmützen' ie. 'Alter-art'-visor-caps (or: old-style 'Schirmmützen') but saw usage throughout the war. The attractive specimen on offer here is executed in bright silverish-grey- (ie. 'flatwire'- ie. BeVo-type) thread onto a darker-green-coloured (and/or typical linnen-based) background and was as such clearly intended to be used onto an: 'Alter-art'-visor-cap. The piece was carefully (and period!) folded and/or fine-trimmed and was clearly once cap-attached by means of hand-stitching: it still shows some of the thread- and/or stitching-remains and shows some obvious age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). It should be noted that these attractive WH (Heeres) 'flatwire-type' cap-eagles are almost never offered for sale and can easily be graded 'scarce'. I deem that this attractive - and truly used- and/or cap-removed! - WH 'Knautschmützen' ie. 'Alter-art'-visor-cap-eagle is with certainty, accordingly priced!
