This is an attractive - and actually never before seen! - so-called: 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item: a semi-official, commemorative-talisman or: 'Url' that is privately-constructed from a (shortened, cut-off and darker-green-piped) shoulderstrap, bright-red-coloured 'stripe' and zinc-based: 'Edelweiss'-M43 cap-badge and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit clearly used- ie. worn-), condition. The interesting piece comes as found and/or most certainly worn. I do know that these desirable 'semi-official'-medals are also copied: this is naturally a genuine example that was never before part of a collection and originates from a German private-household. There is not much known about these commemorative 'Url' but they were most certainly 'souvenir'-pieces that could be privately-purchased (or as here privately-constructed!) by the soldiers active in this specific war-area. Of additional interest is, moreover, the fact that this example came still mounted onto its linnen-based string attached. In any case a nice and surely scarcely seen 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item that is I deem, accordingly priced!
