Superb, WWI-period Iron Cross 1st class (or: 'EK 1. Klasse') being a typical maker- (ie. 'Deutscher Offizier Verein - 800'-) marked example that comes mounted onto its (unusual!) and functional 'screw-back'- (ie. 'an der Schraube'-) set-up

The truly very attractive cross - which is a typical minimally vaulted ie. somewhat converse-shaped example as is more often encountered - has - I deem - never been cleaned and retains a very nice- (albeit somewhat tarnished) age-patina and/or great pronounced detail. This example - which is a (typical) magnetic example as more often seen - comes mounted onto its very unusual, original (and naturally fully functional!) 'screw-back'- (ie. 'an der Schraube'-) set-up (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross - which shows a nicely preserved, 'blackened'- and/or fairly 'satin-like'- ie. somewhat 'shiny'-like 'inner-core' - shows some minimal wear- and/or age but is void of any real damage: it retains a very nice appearance overall. It is just a bit dirty and tarnished simply caused by years of storage and/or moderate wear but retains a great unmessed-with and/or uncleaned, age-patina. The IC on offer here comes with its (typical) 'screw-back'-plate that shows on its screw the designation that simply reads: 'Deutscher Offizier Verein - 800' and also comes with its period (I deem genuine silver-based) 'secondary plate' (as can be noticed on the pictures). Simply an attractive - and with certainly quite rarely seen! - IC-first-class that was recently uncovered at a private-household and that was never before in a collection: I deem that I have priced this attractive WWI-period 'variant'-example, accordingly!
