This is a truly very attractive - and with certainly rarely encountered! - WH (Luftwaffe) so-called: 'pith-helmet'-eagle-device as executed in neatly silvered (albeit clearly somewhat tarnished) so-called: 'Buntmetall' (ie. 'Tombak') and that comes in an overall nice (albeit clearly worn ie. pith-helmet-removed-) condition. The very detailed and/or pronounced piece retains its three, original also 'Buntmetall'-based and/or fragile! – pins in place: these were surely once bent but are still functional. The piece was - I deem - once mounted onto a pith-helmet and was then carefully removed and kept as such for decades. The eagle - which is of course left-facing as to be expected - retains most of its (fairly 'frosted') silverish finish but is also a bit stained (ie. dirty and tarnished): it is void of any makers'-designation (as is more often the case). It should be mentioned that these LW-pattern 'pith-helmet'-eagles rank amongst the rarest TR-period pith-helmet-devices to encounter. Simply a nice opportunity to acquire a genuine so-called: Luftwaffe 'pith-helmet'-eagle-device!
