WWI-period 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' being a (typical) non-converse-shaped example showing the makers'-designation: 'K.O.' on its back
Category:
The attractive albeit clearly worn, WWI-period iron cross first-class - which is a typical non-vaulted (ie. non-converse-) shaped example as more often encountered - has - I deem - never been (recently) cleaned and retains a very nice- (albeit clearly tarnished) age-patina and/or great pronounced detail. This WWI-period example - which is a (partly) genuine-silver-based- ie. magnetic example as more often seen - comes mounted onto its original (and naturally fully functional) flute-shaped pin and has a totally unaltered (and also functional) catch (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross - which shows a nicely preserved, 'blackened'- and/or fairly 'satin-like'- ie. somewhat 'matted'-like 'inner-core' - shows some minimal age and does show some usage ie. minimal paint damage: it retains a very nice appearance overall. The piece is as stated above showing a clear makers'-designation on its back that reads: 'K.O.' (as can be seen on the pictures) being a designation that was I deem used by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Klein & Quenzer' based in the town of Oberstein. The cross is, moreover, just a bit dirty and tarnished simply caused by years of storage and/or moderate wear but retains a great unmessed-with and/or uncleaned, age-patina. Simply an attractive IC-first-class that was never before part of a collection: I deem that I have priced this attractive WWI-period example, accordingly!
