This is an attractive - regrettably single but nevertheless very desirable and nowadays very scarcely found! - neatly 'cyphered', Waffen-SS, NCO-type shoulderstrap (ie. 'Schulterstück für Unterführer der Waffen-SS') as piped in the white-coloured branchcolour as was specifically intended for usage by an: 'SS-Oberscharführer' (ie. sergeant) who served within the: 'Waffen-SS Infanterie-Truppen' ie. the: SS-Rgt. 'Deutschland' (2. SS-Pz-Div. "Das Reich") and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit moderately ie. clearly used- and/or. worn-), condition. The shoulderstrap is constructed from the typical, (smooth-type) black-coloured-wool and shows the black-coloured 'upperdeck': the strap is in all facets a typical 'standard-issued- and (I deem) mid- (ie. early-) war-pattern-type strap (I deem around 1941/1942). The shoulderstrap - which measures approximately 11 cms. sized in length as more often encountered - shows the neat white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured branchcolour and/or desirable 'silk-like'-type branchcolour ie. piping attached (as can be seen on the pictures). The strap - which is also 'backed' with field-grey-coloured- and Italian-styled wool as more often - comes of course mounted onto its (typical!) early-pattern and smaller-sized tongue, attached (something that is more often seen with genuine, Waffen-SS shoulderstraps). The strap shows the typical, silver-toned NCO-braid and a single (aluminium-based and/or regular-sized) pip period-attached. Moreover, does it show a (Latin-styled, non-magnetic ie. aluminium-based and/or tarnished, silverish-toned) so-called: 'D'-cypher (ie. 'Ziffer') period-attached. The strap was clearly used but is void of any damage: it does show some obvious wear, age and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). It should be noted that almost every collector is looking for these white-piped, 'cyphered' Waffen-SS NCO-type-shoulderstraps but these are very hard to find and that come nowadays hardly ever for sale. It should be noted that these original, period 'cyphered', Waffen-SS NCO-type-shoulderstraps can easily be graded 'rare': even more so, when they are piped in the rarely encountered, white-coloured- (ie. 'SS-Infanterie-Truppen'-related-) branchcolour: too bad that it is only a single specimen!
