Hardly used, 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class), as executed in the scarcely seen so-called: 'screw-back-version', being an 'L/54'- (= 'S&H'-) marked example

This is a truly very attractive example of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) as was executed in the scarcely observed, so-called: 'screw-back-version', being an 'L/54'- (= 'Schauerte u. Höhfeld'-) marked example that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem issued- albeit hardly worn- nor used-), condition. The cross - which is a typical non-vaulted ie. npn-converse-shaped example as to be expected - has I deem never been cleaned and retains a somewhat blackened- (ie. minimally tarnished-) age-patina and/or great pronounced detail. This example - which is an evident specimen as produced by the: 'Schauerte u. Höhfeld'-company based in the town of Lüdenscheid - comes mounted onto its functional 'screw-back'- (ie. 'an der Schraube'-) set-up. The small-sized 'pin' (present to additionally and/or firmly attach the cross to a tunic) is naturally also present and in place (see pictures). This piece - which shows a 'blackened' and/or fairly 'satin-like'- ie. 'matted' inner core that hardly shows wear - has all the specific specifications of a by: 'Schauerte u. Höhfeld'-produced screw-back-IC (the makers'-code 'L/54' is somewhat vaguely stamped in lower-section on the back as to be expected). It is just a bit dirty and tarnished simply caused by years of storage and/or minimal wear but retains a great unmessed-with and/or uncleaned, age-patina: most of its polished-sides (ie. 'hochpolierte Kanten') have been nicely preserved (see pictures). The piece originates from a private household in Germany and was never before in collectors'-hands. Simply a truly attractive and actually fairly unusually encountered IC-first-class that was recently uncovered at a private houshold and that was never before part of a collection: I deem that I have priced this attractive IC first-class by the 'Schauerte u. Höhfeld'-company, accordingly!
