Superb - and exceedingly rarely found! - example of a Dutch SS-related so-called: 'Werkdienst Nederland'-arm-patch
Category:
This is a very attractive - and truly exceedingly rarely encountered! - example of a so-called: 'Werkdienst Nederland' (ie. being a Dutch SS-related organisation that can be translated as 'workforce Netherlands' which was mainly tasked with bunkerbuilding) arm-patch (ie. 'Ärmelabzeichen') being an attractive and detailed, machine-embroidered example that was presumably intended for enlisted-mens'- (ie. NCO-) usage and that comes in an overall very nicely preserved- (and I deem simpy never used- nor worn-), condition. The attractive badge - which is executed in silverish-greyisch-coloured thread on a typical, black-coloured- and/or felt-woolen-based background - measures approximately: 9 x 7 cms. and shows the wording: 'Nederland' surrounded by an oakleave 'wreath' (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece was presumably issued but was - I deem - never worn nor tunic-attached: it comes in a truly very nicely preserved condition without showing any defaults (as can be seen on the pictures). These neat armpatches are truly execeedingly rare: I only know a handful of other period examples that are in collections today. In my personal collection I also have a photo wherein such patch is worn by a Dutch volunteer: of interest is naturallly the fact that they were simply attached over the SS-arm-eagle (as can be noticed on my attached photo). The 'Werkdienst Nederland'-arm-badge on offer here originates from an advanced collection of NSB- ie. Dutch collaboration-related items that I recently acquired for the web-site. Simply a very attractive - and truly exceedingly rarely found! - 'Werkdienst Nederland'-related arm-badge that is with certainty accordingly priced: only the first such neat Dutch SS-related cloth item I ever had on offer!
