'DAF- ('Deutches Arbeitsfront') ie. 'KDF'- ('Kraft durch Freude'-) related white-coloured- (period-souvenir) cap-tally (ie. 'Mützenband') entitled: 'M.S. Wilhelm Gustloff'

This is an attractive - and with certainty scarcely encountered! - 'DAF- ('Deutches Arbeitsfront') ie. 'KDF'- ('Kraft durch Freude'-) related multi-coloured- (period-souvenir) cap-tally (ie. 'Mützenband') entitled: 'M.S. Wilhelm Gustloff' that comes in a very nice (ie. I deem just moderately used- ie. worn- and/or once cap-attached), condition. The cap-tally - which is woven in multi-coloured linnen onto a blacj-coloured background comes in a full-length condition and measures approximately 92 cms. in length. The piece is neatly excecuted in so-called: 'BeVo'-like weave-pattern - and is as stated woven in (bright!) multi-coloured (ie. almost 'flat-wire'-like-) thread (as can be seen on the pictures). It does shows some (minimal) age, wear and/or staining but is totally void of any real damage or alike. I could not find much reference-material concerning this neat souvenir-related item: I deem that these attractive pieces could be acquired on the (by the 'DAF- ('Deutches Arbeitsfront') ie. 'KDF'- ('Kraft durch Freude'-) organised-) holidays on board of the M.S. Gustloff and am convinced that this is a scarcely seen example that would merit additional investigative work. As most certainly known was the 'M.S. Wilhelm Gustloff' subject of an air-raid that took place on 30 January 1945. It was hit by Soviet submarine S-13 in the Baltic Sea while evacuating German civilians, Nazi officials and military personnel from Gdynia (now: Gotenhafen) as the Red Army advanced. Its is estimated that 9,400 people died, which makes it the largest loss of life in a single ship sinking in history. I deem that this attractive and desirable example is most certainly, accordingly priced!
