The attractive - and actually not that often seen! - WH (Kriegsmarine) 'Hilfskreuzer-Kriegsabzeichen' (or: naval auxiliary-cruiser war-badge) is - I deem - a typical, later-war-period- and/or non-maker-marked, (partly!) zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example as was produced by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Steinhauer & Lück' (ie. 'S&L') and that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem issued albeit never worn- and/or 'virtually mint'-), condition. As more often seen, has the piece lost its golden-coloured finish: this has simply 'faded-away' over the years (ie. 'migriert'). The award shows a seperately attached globe (which is executed in silver-toned- 'Buntmetall'-based metal as to be expected) that is firmly attached by means of a fully intact single-pieced rivet (as can be seen on the pictures). The award comes naturally mounted onto its fully functional and/or flute-shaped (golden-toned- ie. copper-based) pin (which is of course fully functional) and has a totally unaltered (and period) catch ie. pin/catch set-up. The badge was most certainly never cleaned nor polished and simply comes as stored for decades: it only shows some minimal tarnish (and has with certainty never been cleaned nor polished though). It is - as stated above - a typical, non-maker-marked example that can unmistakenly be attributed to the maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Steinhauer & Lück' as based in the town of Lüdenscheid. Simply an attractive, later-war-period WH (Kriegsmarine) 'Hilfskreuzer-Kriegsabzeichen' that is priced according to its comparative scarcity and/or unmistaken desirability!
