Zinc-based lapel-pin (ie. so-called: 'Traditions- o. Erinnerungsabzeichen') depicting an illustration of an elk surrounded by the text: '1943 Eismeerfront 1944'

Category:

  1. Lapel Pins / Tinnies / Ribbon-bars

This is a truly attractive - very decorative and with certainty scarcely encountered! - example of a (typical) zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based lapel-pin (ie. so-called: 'Traditions- o. Erinnerungsabzeichen') depicting an illustration of an elk (ie. andler) surrounded by the text: '1943 Eismeerfront 1944' and that comes in an overall nice- (and I deem only moderately used- and/or worn-), condition. The neat badge belonged with certainty to a soldier who served within one of the 'Infanterie'- (ie. 'Gebirgsjäger'-) divisions within the: 'Deutsche Wehrmacht' that most certainly served in Northern Europe (I have certainly seen the badge before but could not find a reference yet stating which specific division ie. regiment used this particular badge). The neatly constructed circular-shaped pin has an approximate diameter of 3,5 cms. and is constructed from greyish-silver-coloured- (and zinc-based-) metal: it is a bit dirty but retains a truly nice age patina (some scratching and/or wear is however visible, simply caused by having been worn and/or used as such). The piece still retains two (of its four) prongs attached and is just a bit dirty ie. stained (as can be seen on the pictures). These neat insignia-pieces were possibly used on the sides of the various headgear but could (also) be used to be mounted on the carton (ie. leather-) based etuis (that were intended for storing for example a pay-book or: 'Soldbuch', something that I did see before). Without doubt an attractive - and with certainty scarcely encountered! - so-called: Heeres 'Traditions- o. Erinnerungsabzeichen'!
