This is a truly attractive - and I deem only minimally used- ie. worn- but nevertheless fairly rarely seen! - example of a: 'Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze' (or: bronze panzer-assault badge or PAB), being a clearly maker- (ie. 'EWE'-) marked- and/or zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example that comes in an overall wonderful and I deem only minimally used- ie. worn, condition. The badge on offer here concerns a somewhat later- (ie. mid-war-) period zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based specimen that truly retains most of its brownish- (ie. golden-bronze-) coloured finish: the piece has a somewhat 'shiny' ie. truly zinc-like appearance. The badge has I deem never been cleaned nor polished (and is still also a tiny bit dirty ie. stained- ie. tarnished as mentioned above). As stated above, is the piece a neatly maker-marked example that shows various characteristics - such as for example the typical-shaped 'pin-mounting' and/or soldered catch-set-up - typically seen with PABs as produced by the (presumably Austrian?): 'EWE'-company (which has not been determined yet): it deals with a so-called: 'first-pattern EWE-piece' (as uniquely numbered with the reference-number: '5.7.1.' according to the excellent reference-work entitled: 'The Panzer-Assault badge of WWII' by my Belgian friend Philippe de Bock). The neat piece - which is very pronounced and has great pronounced detail - naturally shows all the details as to be expected for a badge by this particular maker. It was recently found as such at a German flea-market and was never before in a collection. Simply a neat and honest, fairly rarely encountered bronze-class PAB that comes in an overall very nice albeit moderately used ie. worn, condition!
