This is an attractive - and actually scarcely found! - silver-toned- (hollow-styled- and/or typical 'Buntmetall'-based) so-called: 'Langemarck-Kreuz des 26. Reserve-Korps' being a very nicely preserved example that comes in a wonderful- and totally untouched, condition. The “Langemarck Cross” was institutioned with the approval of Adolf Hitler in 1933 by the “Comradeship of the Green Corps“ (being the former: '26. Reserve Korps e.V. Köln'). This “Green Corps” was a group (ie. association) comprising of former 'Langemarck'-fighters. The reserve infantry regiments numbered '233 - 240' as well as the foot-artillery regiments numbered: '51' and '52' were eligible to receive this attractive award. The name “Green Corps” originated from the green ribbons that were worn around the shoulderboards. The battle of Langemarck - being a small village in Flanders/Belgium - took place on October 21, 1914 and was later made into a TR-myth and was glorified as the “sacrifice of the German youth”. The piece on offer here comes in a wonderful condition overall and was simply never cleaned nor polished: it retains all its (minimally tarnished) silver-toned finish and comes mounted onto its (fully unaltered and functional) pin- ie. catch-set-up (as can be noticed on the pictures). Simply a nice occasion to acquire an attractive - and fully untouched! - example of such 'Langemarck-Kreuz des 26. Reserve-Korps' for a competitive price!
