Attractive, 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Kl. mit Schwertern' being a maker- (ie. 'L15'-) marked and typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based specimen as was produced by the Austrian maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Friedrich Orth'

This is an attractive example of a: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Kl. mit Schwertern' (or: War Merits' Cross first class with swords) being a clearly maker- (ie. 'L15'-) marked and/or typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based specimen as was produced by the Austrian maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Friedrich Orth' and that comes as issued and/or stored for decades. The attractive - and I deem typical later-war-period - piece is executed in silver-coloured- and/or: zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based metal and comes in an overall nice (and I deem moderately worn- ie. used-), condition. The non-magnetic- and/or non-vaulted (ie. non-converse-shaped) cross shows a minimally tarnished age-patina and has most certainly never been cleaned nor polished: it retains still, however, most of its 'frosted' silverish-coloured finish as can be seen on the pictures. The cross comes naturally mounted onto its functional (flut-shaped) pin- and/or: period catch (ie. catch-set-up) which are both present and unaltered (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece comes as found and/or stored for decades. Of interest is, moreover, the fact that this example shows the makers'-designation: 'L15' but is nevertheless a piece that is - I deem - most certainly produced by the the Austrian maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'Friedrich Orth': the makers-designation used by this maker should actually be just: '15' (or: 'L14'): this is a commonly-found mistake. Simply a great occasion to acquire a neat: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern' for a justified price!
