'Variant'-pattern, Dutch, Waffen-SS 'volunteer' arm-shield as was specifically intended for usage by soldiers of the: '23. SS Freiwilligen Panzer Grenadier Division' ('Nederland')
This is an attractive - somewhat unusually styled and I deem simply never used nor worn! - example of a Dutch-related, Waffen-SS 'volunteer' arm-shield (ie. 'Ärmelschild') as was specifically intended for usage by soldiers of the: '23. SS Freiwilligen Panzer Grenadier Division' ('Nederland') and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. 'virtually mint- ie. unissued'-), condition. The shield is depicting the 'orange/blue/white'-colours ie. Dutch national flag and comes in an absolute mint- (ie. unissued and/or never tunic-attached-), condition. The shield originates from the USA where it was stored for decades as a so-called: 'veteran bring-back'-item. It is of the (typical) later- (ie. 1943/1944-) war-period-type and most certainly originates from the famous 'Dachau'-clothing depots: this 100% genuine example is a bit different in execution and shows on its back the French national colours making this example a rarely encountered 'variant' that I have not seen before. Simply a nice occasion to acquire a 100% guaranteed original Dutch-related armshield for a competitive price!
