The truly very attractive cross - which is a typical non vaulted ie. non-converse-shaped example as is more often encountered - has - I deem - never been cleaned and retains a very nice- (and just minimally tarnished) age-patina and/or great pronounced detail. This example - which is a magnetic example as more often seen - comes mounted onto its original (and naturally fully functional) 'flute-shaped' pin- and/or (typical) pin-catch set-up (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross - which shows a nicely preserved, 'blackened'- and/or fairly 'satin-like'- ie. somewhat 'matted'-like 'inner-core' - shows some minimal wear- and/or age but is truly void of any damage: it retains a very nice appearance. It is just a bit dirty and tarnished simply caused by years of storage and/or moderate wear but retains a great unmessed-with and/or uncleaned, age-patina (and still retains a fair bit of its 'hochpolierte Kanten'). The IC was most certainly produced (most certainly in the late thirties) by the (desirable!) maker: 'Alois Rettenmaier' as was based in the town of Schwäbisch-Gmünd (something that can easily be corroborated by the presence of the dual maker- (ie. 'L/59' and 'S'-) markings on its back. The piece came stored in its (somewhat simplified) 'LDO'-etui (that comes in an equally very nicely preserved condition). This particular IC-set originates from a German private house-hold where it was recently uncovered. Simply an attractive IC-first-class-set by the 'Alois Rettenmaier'-company that was recently uncovered at a private-household and that was never before in a collection: I deem that I have priced this very attractive WWI-period example, accordingly!
