Single, early- (ie. pre-) war-period, WH (Heeres) 'M36'- (ie. 'M40'-) pattern 'cyphered' (pointed-styled) NCO-type shoulderstrap as intended for a: 'Feldwebel u. Mitglied des Art.-Beo.-Abts. 5'
This is an attractive - regrettably single but nevertheless as such actually quite scarcely encountered! - early- (ie. pre-war-) period, WH (Heeres), 'M36'- (ie. 'M40'-) type, pointed-styled and neatly 'cyphered' (and/or per regulation non-piped ie. generic-styled!) NCO-type shoulderstrap as was intended for - and with certainty worn by! - a: 'Feldwebel u. Mitglied des Art.-Beobachtungs-Abteilungs 5' (or: NCO ie. sergeant who served within a specific, artillery-observers'-unit, numbered: '5') and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit clearly- ie. moderately used and/or worn- ie. carefully tunic-removed-), condition. The neat shoulderstrap have the darker-green-coloured and (smooth) woolen-based 'upperdeck' as to be expected and has (as per regulation) no piping attached: it is from the 'generic'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The strap comes mounted onto its functional tongues attached and measures approximately 11 cms. in length: its shows the silver-toned (early- ie. dotted-pattern) NCO-braid attached. Next to this does the strap show a neat (Gothic-styled, aluminium-based, larger-sized and/or bright-silver-toned) so-called: 'B'-cypher (ie. 'Ziffer') and equally-styled (smaller-sized) '5'-numeral and/or single pip period-attached. All three devices are very nicely preserved but do show some obvious age and/or wear (as can be seen on the pictures). The strap shows some moderate age and/or wear (some minor staining and/or dust is visible- ie. present: moreover, was it once glued into an album or scrapbook and does show some glue- ie. carton-remains on its back). It should be noted that all 'cyphered'-type WH-shoulderstraps can be easily regarded 'scarce'. This attractive strap was part of a larger cloth- and insignia-collection I recently aquired for the web-site. Simply an attractive and/or early- (ie. pre-) war period, 'cyphered Heeres'-related NCO-type shoulderstrap as was intended for a: 'Feldwebel u. Mitglied des Art.-Beobachtungs-Abteilungs 5': too bad that it is only a single specimen!
