'Patriotic-styled'- and/or truly nicely executed! - multi-coloured, TR-period vehicle- ie. bicycle-flag (ie. 'Fahrrad-Fahne') depicting a lion, anchor, hammer and oakleaves, swastika and text: '1937 - Schaffendes Volk - Düsseldorf'
The neat - and somewhat larger-sized! - vehicle- (ie. bicycle-) flag (ie. 'Fahrrad-Fahne') measures from point to back approximately 35 cms. and is nicely constructed from multi-coloured linnen and that shows (on both sides!) a nicely printed illustration of a (red-coloured) lion, a (blue-coloured) anchor,(white-coloured) hammer and oakleaves, (yellow-coloured) swastika and text: '1937 - Schaffendes Volk - Düsseldorf', all on a darker-blue-toned background and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit clearly used-), condition. The decorative 'Fahne' is (I deem) just moderately used and does show some minimal age and/or staining caused by slight usage and/or decades of storage (it is however totally void of any damage or alike as can be seen on the pictures). The neat piece is 'double-sided' and still retains its period 'attachment-cord' and metal-based musketon-hook in place (which were as such intended to attach it to a bicycle or vehicle) as can be noticed on the pictures. These interesting 'souvenir'-flags were produced to commemorate a large-scale exhibition named the: 'Reichsausstellung Schaffendes Volk' (that can be translated as: 'The Reich's Exhibition of a Productive People') of 1937 was held in today's North Park district of Düsseldorf, along one mile of the river Rhine shoreline. The exhibition was opened on May 8, 1937 by Hermann Göring. Through October of the same year it attracted about six million visitors. The exhibition was laid out in four main divisions, being: 1) industry and economics, 2) land utilization and city planning, 3) material progress (with an emphasis on progress in synthetics ie. so-called: 'Ersatz' products) and 4) arts and culture. I am convinced that this is a not that often encountered TR-item that was issued to commemorate a large NS-exhibition as was held in the town of Düsseldorf in the year 1937!
