WH (LW-, Heeres- etc.) related and genuine silver-based) 'souvenir'-hanger from the Greek campaign depicting the: 'Parthenon' in Athens and showing the text: 'Andenken von Athen 1941'
The neat 'souvenir'-hanger (grouping) from the Greek campaign is depicting the famous: 'Parthenon' in Athens and is showing the text: 'Andenken von Athen 1941': it is (I deem) executed in somewhat shiny silver-coloured- (and I deem genuine silver-based!) metal and retains great pronounced detail: it was recently found at a German private-household and came with 3 (smaller-sized and period) photos from the presumed bearer (of which two also show the famous 'Parthenon'). As more often, is the hanger totally void of a makers'-designation or alike but does show a silver-content-marking (that reads: '1000') and is I deem clearly worn ie. used (it is still a bit tarnished and was with certainty never cleaned nor polished). The detail on the engraved illustration is, however, nicely preserved and void of any damage or alike (as can be seen on the pictures). The hanger originates with certainty of a local Greek-production and was most certainly acquired as a souvenir from the Greek campaign in 1941. These 'souvenir'-items could be privately purchased from local artisans and were very popular amongst the troops for obvious reasons. Simply a neat - and 100% genuine! - example that originates from a German private-household where it was recently uncovered. I deem that I have priced this interesting 'souvenir'-hanger & photo-set, accordingly!
