Pair of WH (Heeres) 'cyphered', officers'-type shoulderboards: 'O.Ltn. des Beobachtungs-Abtngs. 8'

The attractive - fully matching and actually scarcely found! - pair of neatly 'cyphered', WH (Heeres) officers'-type shoulderboards (ie. 'Schulterstücke für Offiziere des Heeres') are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres'-type, officers'-pattern shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were (I deem) once tunic-attached and just show some minimal age and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable bright-red- (ie. 'hochroter'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type'- ie. 'moleskin-type'-wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and were intended as a pair of the sew-in-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10,6 cms. in length each and show a matching set of (tarnished golden-toned, Gothic-styled, smaller-sized- and/or zinc-based): 'B'-cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern'), smaller-sized (and equally styled) '8'-numerals and a pair of (smaller-sized, equally styled- and also matching) pips attached (as can be seen on the pictures) denoting that the officer who wore this set held the rank ie. function of: 'Oberleutnant' who served within the: 'Beobachtungs-Abteilungs 8'. Taking into account the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-used'-tunic'. The set originates from a fairly large collection of boards and straps that I recently aquired for the web-site. It should, moreover, be mentioned that these neatly 'cyphered', 'Artillerie o. Beobachtungs'-related shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged to an: 'Oberleutnant des Beobachtungs-Abteilungs 8' and that is (I deem) accordingly priced!
