Non-maker-marked, 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' by: 'R. Wächtler u. Lange'
This is an attractive - and I deem just moderately worn- and/or used - example of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a detailed and (as more often) non-maker-marked (and non-vaulted) example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'R. Wächtler u. Lange' as was based in the town of Mittwaida in Sachsen and that comes in an overall nice- (surely issued and I deem just moderately used- ie. worn-), condition. The non-magnetic cross has an overall very nice age-patina and retains truly great detail: the black-coloured core shows no rust nor damage whatsoever: the satin-like (ie. minimally matted), black-coloured painted ie. sprayed core is truly very nicely preserved and is totally void of any real paint-loss (as can be seen on the pictures). The cross retains, moreover, a fair bit of its 'off-factory applied' polished sides (ie. 'hochpolierte Kanten'). The back of the cross is just a tiny bit stained (but was never cleaned nor polished). The (flute-shaped) pin is naturally unaltered: the catch, however, might be period-re-attached but is fully functional. The cross is an evident specimen that was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'R. Wächtler u. Lange' as was based in the town of Mittwaida in Sachsen: it has very nice and/or pronounced detail as to be expected for a cross by this maker. Simply an attractive EKI. Klasse by the 'Wächtler u. Lange'-company and that was never before part of a collection: I deem that I have priced this attractive and untouched example, accordingly!
