WH (Heeres) 'cyphered', officers'-type shoulderboards: 'Leutnant des Panzerjäger-Abtlgs. 33'
The attractive - and actually quite scarcely found! - pair of WH (Heeres) shoulderboards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres-pattern, officers'-type shoulderboards as was specifically intended for usage by a junior-officer holding the rank of a: 'Leutnant des Panzerjäger-Abteilungs 33' (or: lieutnant who served within the anti-tank- ie. tank-destroyer unit, numbered: '33'). The boards show the desirable bright-pink- (ie. 'rosaroter'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and was clearly a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern. The boards measure approximately 11,7 cms. in length each and were clearly worn- ie. carefully tunic-removed (as can be seen on the pictures). The pair shows two fully matching sets of (somewhat tarnished, golden-toned, smaller-sized- and/or fully identical) '3'-cyphers ie. numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') attached denoting that the junior-officer (ie. 'Leutnant') who was issued this pair, served within the: 'Panzerjäger-Abteilung 33' (ie. anti-tank- or tank-destroyer-unit). All four devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and somewhat tarnished age-patina. Taking into account the fact that the set has silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'subdued'-type-) 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was used on a regular 'front-used' tunic (and NOT a 'Waffenrock' or dress-tunic). It should be mentioned that these neatly 'cyphered', 'Heeres'-type 'Panzerjäger'-shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply a attractive shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a'Leutnant des Panzerjäger-Abteilungs 33'!
