This is an attractive example of a - non-filled-in but nevertheless actually rarely encountered! - silverish-grey-toned and/or typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based, Dutch Waffen-SS-volunteer- (ie. Dutch NSB-party-) related, so-called: 'Oostland'- (or: 'Mussert'-) plakkete (ie.: 'next-of-kin-plaque') as was established to commemorate those NSB-members ie. Dutch SS-volunteers that were KIA on the Eastern front and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. 'virtually mint- ie. unissued'- and/or non-filled-in-), condition. These rarely encountered - NSB (ie. 'Nationaal Socialistische Beweging' or: Dutch Nazi party) related - 'next-of-kin' awards ie. decorations were instituted (and were produced on behalf of) by its leader Anton Mussert in the spring of 1941. The plaque - which shows a detailed so-called: 'Oostlandkruis' (with 'Wolfshook'-symbol superimposed on a swastika) and a steel-helmet on laurel-branches with below that the text: 'Hou en Trou' (= steady and true in Dutch language) shows the text: 'Mussert 1941'. The plaque on offer here has a nicely preserved age-patina: it was most certainly never cleaned nor polished and was stored as such for decades. These interesting awards were produced by the Dutch maker: 'Kon. Begeer - Voorschoten' and do always show a (tiny) makers-designation (ie. logo) stamped on its top (as the example on offer here). The design of these plaques originated from the Dutch artist Chis Agterberg (which initials 'CA' also figure on the placques as can be noticed on the pictures). I deem that this example is accordingly priced: I have seen similar awards being sold for much more than my asking-price. It should be mentioned that not that many of these plaques have survived to date. Simply a neat - albeit non-engraved ie. non-filled-in! - example of this NSB- (ie. Dutch Waffen-SS-) Dutch volunteer-related decoration!
