This is an attractive - and most certainly desirable! - example of a later-war-period- and 'standard-issue'-pattern, two-pieced black-coloured- and/or genuine leather-based WH helmet-strap (ie. 'Riemen für Stahlhelm') being a neatly: 'FTD 44'-marked example that comes in a simply never mounted ie. 'virtually mint- ie. unissued', condition. The strap does show some minimal age ie. staining but is naturally still fully functional souple: it can easily be mounted onto a helmet by means of carefully rinsing it with some hot- ie. warm water (the leather will become then souple and the strap can easily be fitted. It bears the clearly impressed stamp that reads: 'FTD 44' and comes mounted with its period pair of (I deem steel-based) studs in place (as can be seen on the pictures). It should be specifically mentioned that this is a garuanteed, period example (and not a copy or alike!) that originated from a large lot of similar straps that was uncovered in France in the 70-ies. Simply a neat - and actually unusually encountered! - WH-equipment-item that can easily be graded 'scarce' and that is ideally fitted to complete any German steelhelmet!
