Attractive - and fairly unusually seen! - reddish-bronze-toned so-called: 'Einzelspange' showing a: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schw.' (or: war-merits' cross 2nd class with swords) being a very detailed- and/or 'Buntmetall'-based specimen
This is a truly attractive example of an - actually fairly unusally seen! - reddish-bronze-toned, so-called: 'Einzelspange' showing a: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern' (or: war-merits' cross 2nd class with swords) being a very detailed- and/or typical 'Buntmetall'-based specimen that has (I deem) been hardly used- nor worn. The detail on this example is extraordinary: it has never been cleaned nor polished and has an attractive and somewhat 'frosted'- (ie. tarnished) age-patina. The medal is 'mounted' onto a (copper-toned) and steel-based clasp as was intended for wearing this example on a 'going-out'- ie. dress-tunic or 'Waffenrock'. This example retains pronounced details and has a great ie. only minimally darkened- ie. tarnished age-patina: it truly retains all of its reddish-bronze-toned finish (as can be seen on the pictures). The 'Spange' is not 'backed' with a piece of wool as is more often seen (as can be noticed on the pictures). The bright-orange-red- (and white-/black-) coloured ribbon shows only minimal usage and/or staining. I could not determine if it is a maker-marked example: the ring is firmly hidden under the ribbon. It should be mentioned that it is actually quite unusual to find a: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern' mounted as an: 'Einzelspange'!
