Neat - albeit regrettably incomplete - zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example of an: 'Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber' being a maker- (ie. 'R.S.'-) marked example as produced by the Austrian maker (ie. 'Hersteller') 'Rudolf Souval'
This is an attractive - albeit regrettably incomplete - example of an: 'Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber' (or: silver-class infantry assault-badge) which is as stated above nicely maker- (ie. 'R.S.') marked on its back as more often encountered with awards by this Austrian maker - and is thus a typical piece as was produced by the: 'Rudolf Souval'-company based in the town of Wien (ie. Vienna) in Austria. The badge - which has truly pronounced detaill - comes naturally mounted onto its functional pin- and/or pin (-set-up) but regrettably misses its catch. The piece is executed from greyish-coloured zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based metal and has maintained a neat (somewhat darkened) silverish-grey-coloured- and/or typical 'zinc-based' finish (as to be expected). The badge - which was most certainly issued and that was truly worn - shows some age and/or staining but was never cleaned nor polished: it has a nice, somewhat darkened age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). These desirable - and neatly maker-marked! - 'variant'- ie. 'classic set-up-' IABs as produced by the 'R.S.'-company can easily be graded 'fairly scarce'. I deem that I have priced this moderately worn and untouched example according to its missing catch!
