Superb - and just minimally used! - 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a maker- (ie. 'L/59'-) marked example as was produced by the desirable 'Hersteller' named: 'A. Rettenmaier' and that comes as recently found
This is a very attractive example of an (I deem) mid-war-period: 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a clearly maker- (ie. 'L/59'-) marked- and/or non- vaulted- (ie. non-converse-shaped) example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Alois Rettenmaier' as based in the town of Schwäbisch-Gmünd and that comes as recently found. The neat cross comes in an overall very nice- (albeit minimally used ie. worn-), condition (as can be seen on the pictures). The magnetic cross retains a very nice age-patina and truly retains great pronounced detail: the black-coloured (and somewhat 'matted') core shows no paint-loss whatsoever and is very nicely preserved (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece - that shows the 'L/59'-designation and 'half-moon'-symbol on its back - retains, moreover, some of its so-called: 'hochpolierte Kanten' (or polished sides) and is still somewhat tarnished but was never cleaned nor polished. The typical (flute-shaped) pin and/or catch (ie. set-up) are naturally fully unaltered and/or of course still functional. It should be mentioned that these maker- (ie. 'L/59'-) marked examples are not that commonly encountered. Simply an attractive - and I deem mid-war-period! - 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' by the 'Alois Rettenmaier'-company that was never before in a collection and that is with certainty accordingly priced!
