RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') EM- (ie. NCO-) pattern, commemorative cuff-title (ie. 'Dienstärmelstreifen') depicting a capital 'S'-character (as was intended for commisioned-staff working on the various 'Westwall'-fortifications)

This is an attractive - and truly worn! - RAD (ie. 'Reichsarbeitsdienst') enlisted-mens'- (ie. NCO-) pattern, commemorative cuff-title (ie. 'Dienstärmelstreifen für Mannschaften u. Unteroffiziere') depicting a capital 'S'-character (as was presumably intended for staff working on the various 'Westwall'-fortifications in the Saarland-region) and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit moderately used- and/or clearly tunic-removed-), condition. These RAD-cuff-titles (or in German language known as: 'Dienstärmelstreifen') were worn on the lower left sleeve of the mustard-brown-coloured RAD-tunics. The cuff-title is neatly executed in white-coloured braid in so-called: 'BeVo'-weave-technique and was intended for RAD staff-members that were (most likely) employed in various 'Westwall'-fortifications in the Saarland-region. There is, however, an on-going discussion on the exact usage and signifigance of these RAD commemorative-cuff-titles (which were I deem introduced by an order dated March 1939). The band is void of a makers'-designation (just the remains are visible as can be seen on the pictures). This example - which comes in a somewhat shortened condition and that was clearly tunic-removed - measures 34 cms. in length and originates from a small collection of RAD cloth-insignia I recently acquired. This particular example was clearly worn (some minimal stitching-marks ie. remains are still visible) but comes in an overall nice condition. Simply an attractive piece of RAD-insignia that is accordingly priced!
