This is an attractive - and actually truly rarely encountered! - WH (Kriegsmarine) neatly machine-embroidered, so-called: career- ie. specialist-armbadge (ie. 'Tätigkeits-Abzeichen') as executed in multi-coloured linnen onto a typical darke-blue-coloured (and woolen-based) backing as was specifically intended to signify participation in the: 'Sonderausbildung für Torpedotaucher' (ie. specific, torpedo scuba-diver-course) and that comes in an overall very nice- (ie. I deem probably issued- albeit simply never used- nor tunic-attached-), condition. The badge - which was to be mounted on the upper-arm-regions of the various white-coloured, naval-tunics - depicts a detailed and bright-red-coloured 'divers-helmet'-device and shows a double rank-chevron (as can be seen on the pictures). The badge is executed in bright-red- (and bright-blue) coloured linnen onto a blue-coloured and/or typical, woolen-based background. The piece does show extraordinary craftmenship and is not additonally backed as more often seen. The piece just shows some minimal age ie. staining caused by decades of storage only. It sounds maybe strange but all WH (Kriegsmarine) career- ie. specialist-armbadges as specifically related to the various naval 'Taucher'-units are truly very hard to encounter and can easily be graded 'rare'. Simply a very attractive example that is I deem with certainty accordingly priced!
