Attractive - and fully matching! - pair of WH (Heeres) officers'-type shoulderboards as piped in the bright-green- (ie. 'hellgrüner'-) coloured branchcolour as intended for an: 'Oberstleutnant des Grenadier-Rgts. 77' (part of the '26. Inf.-Div.') The attractive - fully matching and actually scarcely found! - pair of neatly 'cyphered' WH (Heeres) officers'-type shoulderboards (ie. 'Schulterstücke für Offiziere des Heeres') are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres'-type, officers'-pattern shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were most certainly once tunic-attached and show some minimal age and/or staining and are a bit faded (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable bright-green- (ie. 'hellgrüner'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type'- ie. 'moleskin-type'-wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and were with certainty intended to be used as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10,5 cms. in length each and show two matching sets of (dual, bright-golden-toned, smaller-sized- and/or zinc-based): '7'-numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') and a pair of (equally styled- and also matching) pips period-attached (as can be seen on the pictures) denoting that the officer who wore this set held the (high!) rank of: 'Oberstleutnant' (ie. lieutnant-colonel) who served (ie. possibly commanded!) the: 'Grenadier-Regiment 77'. Taking into account the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-used'-tunic'. The set originates from a fairly large collection of boards and straps I recently aquired for the web-site: it came with a pair of silver-toned tunic-buttons (loosly) attached. It should also be mentioned that these fairly high-ranked 'Grenadiere'-related shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged to an: 'Oberstleutnant des Grenadier-Regiments 77' and that is (I deem) accordingly priced!
