Attractive - and fully matching! - pair of WH (Heeres) neatly 'cyphered', officers'-type shoulderboards as (dual)piped in the darker-pink- (or: 'karmesinroter'-) coloured branchcolour as intended for a: 'Hauptmann der Reserve einer Veterinär-Abts.'
The attractive - and actually scarcely found! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair is neatly (dual)piped in the darker-pink- ie. crimson- (or: 'karmesinroter'-) coloured branchcolour and has the typical dove-grey-coloured 'underlay' and was as such intended for a: 'Hauptmann der Reserve einer Veterinär-Abteilungs' (or: reserve-captain who served within who served within a specific army veterinarian unit) and comes in an overall very nice- (I deem just moderately used- and/or carefully tunic-removed-), condition. The shoulderboards are 'text-book'-examples of the 'Heeres'-type, 'Veterinär'-shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey-coloured (ie. somewhat tarnished- ie. 'sub-dued'-pattern) 'upperdecks' (as can be noticed on the pictures). The boards show the desirable darker-pink- ie. crimson- (or: 'karmesinroter'-) coloured branchcolour (ie. 'Zwischenfarbe') and have the typical dove-grey-coloured 'underlay' (and were constructed from the typical 'smooth'-type wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and were clearly intended for - and moderately ie. clearly used! - as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10,8 cms. in length each and were most certainly issued- and/or worn as such and do show moderate age, wear and/or staining as to be expected. The boards shows a matching pair of regular-sized- (and bright golden-coloured!) so-called: veterinarian- (ie. snake-type-) cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern') and two (also matching and equally-styled) pips period-attached, denoting the rank of a: 'Hauptman' and officers'-function of: 'Veterinär der Reserve'. All six devices - which were attached BEFORE the set was totallt assembled - are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (and/or quite shiny!) age-patina. The neat pair was with certainty carefuly tunic-removed and does show some stitching-remains. It should, moreover, be noted that the darker-pink- ie. crimson- (or: 'karmesinroter'-) coloured branchcolour is one of the more difficult to encounter branchcolours of the entire: 'Deutsche Wehrmacht'. This particular shoulderboard-pair originated from a larger cloth- ie. 'cyphered' shoulderstrap-collection I recently acquired for the web-site. Simply a very attractive WH (Heeres) officers'-pattern shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a: 'Hauptmann der Reserve einer Veterinär-Abteilungs'!
