This is a very attractive example of a WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) 'Krim'-campaign-shield as was produced by the desirable Austrian maker: 'Friedrich Orth' based in the town of Vienna (ie. Wien) that comes stored in its period (and rarely seen!) 'Zellstoff'-based pouch and that comes in a probably issued (albeit still 'virtually mint'- and presumably never tunic-attached-), condition. The shield - that comes mounted on its original, field-grey-coloured 'backing' - comes in a truly wonderful condition and was with certainty never worn nor used. It comes naturally complete with its metal-based back-plate and has all its four prongs in place: moreover, does it still retain its (typical) protective, greenish-coloured-coloured- and linnen-based backing attached that is only found on by 'Friedrich Orth'-produced examples (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield - which is minimally converse-shaped as more often - retains all of its original, darker-coloured- and truly 'glossy' finish ie. bronze-like appearance (all its period 'Brennlack' is still present!) and was never cleaned nor polished: it does show some minimal staining caused by decades of storage only. It came stored in its neat, light-brown-coloured- and 'Zellstoff'-based pouch (which shows the printed makers'-designation of: 'Friedrich Orth' and that comes in an equally nicely preserved (and totally undamaged), condition. Simply a very attractive and desirable 'Heeres ie. Waffen-SS'-pattern example that was surely issued but simply never worn. It should be noted that these 'minty' examples by the Austrian 'Friedrich Orth'-company are quite hard to come by: it will be almost impossible to upgrade this specimen!
